"I
spent a week in Virginia attending Civil War seminars and touring
sites. My all-day Culpeper tour with Virginia Morton was the highlight
of my trip. I highly recommend her book and tours."

On June 9,
1863, Union horsemen surprised General J.E.B. Stuart, C.S.A. in an early
morning attack that culminated in the largest cavalry engagement of the
war. Tour 1 begins with an inside tour of the Graffiti House (above) and
includes stops at Auburn-to view the site of Stuart's Grand Review, Buford's
Knoll, the St. James Church area, and Fleetwood Hill (3 hours).
Tour number
2 follows the movement of the Union troops that crossed at Kelly's Ford
and includes and overview of the Battle of Kelly's Ford as well as stops
at the ford, Hansborough's Ridge, Stevensburg, and the site of Will Farley's
mortal wounding (2.5-3 hours). These two tours can be combined for an
all-day tour. For groups of 35 or more, it may be possible to include
an inside tour of a historic home.
